Summer Mersinger, a departing commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will assume leadership of the Blockchain Association on June 2. Known for her crypto-friendly stance, Mersinger has consistently advocated against overly stringent regulations during her tenure at the CFTC.

Her appointment arrives amid pivotal legislative debates that could reassign crypto oversight from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to the CFTC. Critics, however, question potential conflicts of interest given her swift transition from regulator to industry advocate.
